Story of our School

Welcome To Nationview Public School!

A bit of historical information about Nationview ....
Nationview was built in 1972, with the official opening June 2 of that year.  The first enrolment was 450 children and it was built as an open concept school which, not only physically was interesting but programming wise it was a very new method of instruction for staff and community. This model had the children working in groups according to skill level in literacy and math and moving from group to group as skills developed but yet also  they had the connection with a homeroom base teacher for other subject areas

Nationview currently Services the rural community of South Mountain, Inkerman, Mountain, and Hallville . Located in South Mountain and along the south shore of the Nation River.  Some quick current facts about our school

227  JK to Grade 6 students

Dual track: 7 % Regular Core French and 93 % in the Immersion French program
Currently the majority of our  Grade 6 students move on to attend North Dundas DHS, with a handful of children that are still in our old southern border moving on to Seaway.
Great partnership with Happy Face  Daycare offering before and after school care to our children and preschoolers in the day time hours.  This space will be expanded on this upcoming school year under the recently announced Ministry funding
Our current staff has 14 Teachers, Educational Assistants, 3 Registered Early Childhood Educators, Custodial and Office Administration staff
Very Active School Council that works collaboratively with the school and recently finished a large fundraiser for building a shelter in the outdoor education area at the back of the school.  Our parent volunteers when on council or not are numerous and generous with their time and I will speak more to that later in the presentation
The summer of 2017 we were fortunate to have a fully  restructured  playground area, parking lot and bus lane. Which has greatly increased the safety regarding loading and unloading the busses and allows for safe yard play in a spacious playground .
