Foster Child

Foster Parents logoZambia

Our school supports a foster child in Africa. He is an 11-year-old boy, named Genius, who lives in Misakalala in the northern part of Zambia. His community has a population of about 9,000 and most people depend on subsistence farming. The languages spoken in the area are Bemba and Ushi. The family can obtain water all year round from an open well, less than 1 kilometer away. The nearest health facility is more than two hours away. Genius has two sisters and a brother and his family lives in a house made of unfired mud bricks with a straw roof.

From time to time, classes or groups of people at our school hold fundraising events to cover the monthly cost of supporting Genius and his family.
